Allen Albert Funt (September 16, 1914 – September 5, 1999) was an American television producer, director, writer and television personality, best known as the creator and host of Candid Camera from the 1940s to 1980s, as either a regular television show or a television series of specials. Its most notable run was from 1960 to 1967 on CBS.


Earl Yowytewawas mentored by Alvin James Makya, and he started carving katsina dolls around 1940 until 2006. He started winning awards for his work by 1959 at such venues as the Heard Museum, Museum of Northern Arizona, and the Inter-tribal Indian Ceremonial in Gallup. He's also known for his jewelry and textiles. Earl learned jewelry making from his father Arthur, and he learned how to carve Katsina dolls from Alvin James Makya.

Earl Yowytewa (1923-2006)was the son of Arthur Yowytewa, Sr.; brother of Arthur Yowytewa, Jr. Hubert Yowytewa; husband of Mabel Yowytewa; father of Faron Yowytewa, Marcus Yowytewa; related to Richard Yowaitewa.

  • A kachina (/kəˈtʃiːnə/; also katchina, katcina, or katsina; Hopi: katsina [kaˈtsʲina], plural katsinim [kaˈtsʲinim]) is a spirit being in the religious beliefs of the Pueblo peoples, Native American cultures located in the south-western part of the United States. Dolls are carved traditionally as teaching tools for the children as Oral Traditions as facilitated with the dolls. Each doll has a story associated, sometimes historical events, sometimes the physical world and sometimes the mystical. In the Pueblo cultures, kachina rites are practiced by the Hopi, Zuni, Hopi-Tewa, and certain Keresan tribes, as well as in most Pueblo tribes in New Mexico
