The McDonnell Douglas F-15 Eagle is an American twin-engine, all-weather, tactical fighter aircraft. The aircraft had it's first flight on 29 July 1972. It was introduced to service on 09 January 1976. The major users of the F-15 are the United States Air Force, the Japan Air Self-Defense Force, the Royal Saudi Air Force and the Israeli Air Force. The aircraft has been manufactured in numerous variants: the F-15A, the F-15B, the F-15C, the F-15D, the F-15E, the F-15J and F-15DJ. There have been 1,198 models manufactured.
This model of the F-15A is part of the 133 squadron of the Israeli Air Force, also known as the "Knights of the Twin Tail", and are based at the Tel Nof Air Base, Israel. The first Israeli air victories using F-15A Baz (a Hebrew name meaning "The Falcon") 672 from the 133 Squadron came in June of 1979 by destroying a Syrian MIG-21. The second 133 Squadron kill came in February of 1981 by Squadron Commander Benny Zinker when he scored the first victory of a MIG-25 Foxbat using AIM-7F missles. In July of 1981, another MIG-25 was destroyed.
