Thisold photo by C. Bostwickis quite sharp, butthe original negative and prints were in bad condition.We have cleaned and restored the image as much as possible without compromising historical accuracy.The photoshows the B&O Railroad bridge about a yearafter is was destroyed by Confederate troops in June of 1861. We are looking across the Potomac River from Maryland toward Harpers Ferry. The arsenal (on the right) had not yet been destroyed when this photo was taken. Tone:Your print will have an albumen and sepia toneas shown. Albumen is the type of prints made when this photo was originally printed. Sepia is the color of old prints today, caused by acid in the old paper. Many people prefer the warm sepia tones over cold black and white. Your sepia print will be on acid-free paper, but it will look old.If you want grayscale (black and white), do not buy this item. We can custom-make it for you but must list it separately. Finish: Your print will have a luster finish that reduces glare.If you want glossy, do not buy this item. We can custom-make it for you but must list it separately. Click "Ask a question" to ask for information.

Border:Your print will have a minimum border. This means that there may be some white edges (less than 1/4 inch wide) outside the image so that you can display the maximum amount of the image in a typical device that hides the edges of the print.

Quality: We select the highest-quality images we can find and carefully restore and improve them. Old photos do not meet today’s high standards due to the limitations of the cameras, lenses, and film available in those days, and due to aging and damage. But we improve them as much as we can while preserving an antique look. Then we process them using modern archival methods so they can be affordable and last for many years.

CD option: You can request to substitute a CD instead of a print. The CD will contain more than one version of the image, including at least one cropped close-up, that are optimized for digital display in digital slide shows, presentations, social media and websites. The images will not exceed 1200 pixels in the longest dimension, and thus may not fill the screen when used for high definition displays. If we have additional information about the image, we will include a text file as well. If we have related images, we will include them on the CD as well. You must request the CD in on the same day that you pay. The CD and images shall not be printed nor reproduced for sale nor distribution.

Packaging: We ship 5x7 prints and CDs flat with a stiff board to prevent folding, in a sturdy envelope.

Shipping time: Your 5x7 print or CD will ship the next business day after we receive your payment. If you purchase additional items from quaintcards to ship together, an extra day may also be required. The time required by the postal services to deliver your package depends on shipping method, Customs requirements, weather, holidays, and other factors beyond our control.

Shipping cost: This item is sold with packaging materials and handling included in the price. Domestic postage is also included. For destinations outside the U.S.A., buyer pays actual postage.
