*Empress Eugénie was the wife of Emperor Napoleon III of France. She was born in Spain in 1826 as Eugenia de Montijo, and she married Napoleon III in 1853.

In 1859, Empress Eugénie accompanied her husband to Italy during the Second Italian War of Independence. The war was fought between the Austrian Empire and the Kingdom of Sardinia, supported by France. The French army, led by Napoleon III, won a decisive victory over the Austrians at the Battle of Solferino, which resulted in the end of the war.

Empress Eugénie played a significant role during the war by nursing the wounded soldiers and providing them with supplies. She was also present at the front lines during the battle, where she witnessed the horrors of war firsthand.

After the war, Empress Eugénie continued to be a prominent figure in French society, hosting lavish events and supporting charitable causes. She and her husband were instrumental in the modernization of Paris, including the construction of the famous boulevards and parks that are still enjoyed today. However, their reign came to an end in 1870, when Napoleon III was overthrown during the Franco-Prussian War.
