ThisHarmony Kingdommarble resin box figurinenamed "New Phone" was carved by Peter Calvesbert in 2017 and hand painted/finished/signed byhim.

Here is his wife's explanation of the piece:

"This gorgeous phoenix is extra-special, as it is thefirst membership piece marking the launch of our new collectors’ club inJanuary 2017.

Pete chose the phoenix which is synonymous with risingagain from the ashes. Whilst Harmony Kingdom has never quite been a pile ofashes, it is certainly growing again, and this is the first time we havelaunched a club since the demise of the Royal Watch Collectors’ Club years ago.

The piece also epitomizes Pete’s sense of humour whichis evident in so many of his carvings – ‘New Phone?’ asks the phoenix, rather surprisedto turn around and see his friend, who had been perched next to him just asecond ago, has gone up in smoke, dropping his phone on the floor in front ofhim.

Could this be in reference to a well known brand ofmobile phone which received some rather unwelcomed publicity for overheatingand exploding whilst in use? Surely not!

The piece is also the first one to bear the new HKhallmark – Pete has chosen a golf club and golf ball for the year – a nod to hisfavourite hobby. Our son Sam is also a talented golfer."
