Recently acquired from a local NJ estate is this genuine leather bound handwritten diary with gilt fore-edges describing daily activities for the years 1950 - 1954. Each page allows entries for one day, but there are lines for different years so the entries on a single page refer to different years. The entries for a particular day correspond to those years based on the position on the page. The entries are generally fairly brief and there are entries for most pages. Repeated entries about lunch at Heublein and also lunch at new Paris (town or restaurant?), references to Hartford, etc. Looks like the Northeast is a good possibility. There are many references that may indicate the author was involved with antiques, art, sales, museums, libraries, etc. So I have taken many photos to show typical pages.

Jan 5 (1952) took bus to and from Htfd (Hartford?)

Jan 13 (1954) Dinner at Hartford Club with the Cunningham’s and party of 10 before lecture on Collecting by Roy Neuberger.

Jan 21 (1953) Lunch at new Paris with …

Feb 21 (1951) Worked with Greg all day sorting books..

Feb 23 (1951) Lunch at Heublein before I dashed off to Htfd college for lecture on drama by Day Tuttle…

Apr 17 (1954) … Closed shop at 12:45 and went to Red … for lunch.

Apr 24 (1954) Lovely day lunch at Goodwin Park…yesterday was Shakespeare’s birthday

May 1 (1952) May Day…Lunch with Sally and … at New Paris.

May 19 (1951) Smith Club luncheon..

Jun 20 (1952) Finished catalogue in basement

Sep 19 (1954) up early to NY to Museum Modern Art to see Japanese House

Condition: generally good condition, with some light surface wear to the cover and the front and back covers are not aligned perfectly (see photo).
