Hampden MA Laughing Brook Thornton Burgess Writing Studio Pairpoint Glass Cup Plate Hampden Massachusetts Vintage Window Decoration Handcrafted on Cape Cod, Made in USA This vintage crystal Pairpoint Glass Cup Plate features Laughing Brook, located next to the former writing studio of Thornton W. Burgess in Hampden, Massachusetts. The cup plate\'s border displays some native birds. Commissioned by the Friends of Laughing Brook and designed by Frances Dutille, this cup plate was engraved by Alvin White. The Laughing Brook Cup Plate is a thoughtful gift for anyone who loves the Old Mother West Wind stories or any of the animal characters Thornton Burgess brought to fame. For a baby shower gift, pair it with a classic Thornton Burgess book. Thornton W. Burgess was the creator of Peter Rabbit and his animal friends in the Dear Old Briar Patch, the Smiling Pool, the Green Meadow, and the Laughing Brook. The Thornton Burgess Society, which ran the former Burgess museum in Sandwich, Massachusetts, sold cup plates bearing the imprint of the characters to help fund the museum. Handcrafted on Cape Cod using time-honored techniques, these 3.5 inch cup plates have subtle variations that highlight the artisan\'s skill. Each cup plate is crafted using a mold created with a hammer and chisel, and then pressed with molten glass using an antique press.
