At first we thought this HTF postcardcelebrated former British Navy Ship; RMS Mauretanias\'return to passenger service 1919 after WWI. However, the face side notationsindicate theMauretania is thelargest vessel in the world / with 25 knot speed this means that it more likely dates to nearer the time of her launch.
TheMauretaniashull was painted grey for maiden voyage but painted black soon after so given divided back on Pc, 1907-1910 is pinpointed.Therefore, the featured US & British Flags indicate the ports of service rather than post war cooperation. This is why if you shop around this postcard is a unique and hard to find issue for this vessel.
RMS Olympic, a larger ship, was launched in1910. Also, from what we can determine theMauretanianever did attain a cruising speed of 25 knots.
