+ Based on animated TV character+Comic book version of the popular comic strip cat, Heathcliff+ Rare, hard to find, Star comicsHeathcliff (a.k.a. Heathcliff and the Catillac Cats, known as Les Entrechats in French) is a children\'s animated television series that debuted on September 3, 1984. Produced by DIC Audiovisuel, it was the second animated series based on the Heathcliff comic strip (after Ruby-Spears\' Heathcliff and Dingbat/Heathcliff and Marmaduke). 65 half-hour episodes aired in first-run syndication in the fall of 1984, followed by a second season of 21 episodes in 1986. The Catillac Cats characters (identified in the end credits as Cats and Co.) were created by Jean Chalopin and Bruno Bianchi.
Starting in 1985, Star Comics, an imprint of Marvel Comics, began producing comic books titled Heathcliff. The series ran for 56 issues, changing to the Marvel Comics brand with issue #23. Star Comics added an additional spin-off title in 1987 called Heathcliff\'s Funhouse (which also switched over to Marvel with issue #6). It was a combination of new material and reprinted stories that first appeared in the original Heathcliff title. In the comics, Heathcliff had a far better relationship with Mr. Nutmeg, and much of his adventures were done with Mr. Nutmeg\'s grandson. Heathcliff\'s reputation for adventurism was even noted by the local police, who recruited him for a sting operation against a gang of cats stealing purses, in exchange for them forgiving the fact Heathcliff swiped shellfish, of course. I am not a professional grader, but have 30+ years of experience in collecting comics and staying up-to-date on the latest grading guidance#1 is estimated at VG/F (5.0)#5 and #8 are estimated to be inG/VG (3.0)...dinging them due to portions of front cover missing on each. Beside that obvious defect, the comics otherwise present well, all pages attached to spine/stapes.#14 and #25 are estimated to be in Fine+ (6.5)condition. Note that #14 has a sticker/price tag affixed to northwest corer of front cover.# 36 is estimated at VG/F (5.0)INSIDE pages are WHITE or OWW. All pages attached to spines.
