This LARGE, lovely, Halcyon Days Enamels box is a beige Tang Dynasty horse on a dappled orange background. Figures like this were made during the Chinese Tang Dynasty (618 - 906 A. D.). The horse was a symbol of wealth and power. Small ones were decorative, and large ones were tomb guardians. \"Tomb Model of a Horse\", \"Chinese Tang Dynasty\" and \"Ashmolean Museum, Oxford\" are written inside.
