You are looking at aGreat Antique Early 20th Cent. CLYDE Butcher Knife, Carbon Steel Blade & Hickory This great knife has a simple, functional and ergonomic handle made from hickory wood. The blade is long and massive with the tang going all through the handle secured with three brass rivets. It is thus very heavy and allows for an incredible grip and feel. This high-quality piece was manufactured by the Clyde Manufacturing Company of Clyde, Ohio with the company name embossed on the handle. These knives are so durable that they were often used by the military. A little sharpening and you can go use it for another 100 years... The knife measures 10 1/2" andbelonged to the estate of a well-known South Florida civil war and antique weapons / tools collector who acquired most of his pieces in the 1970s and 80s. A rare and great looking antique tool!
