For sale today are two rare Fantagrapghics Bookshardcover (HC) graphic novels from M. Tilleux's Gil Jordan, Private Detective line - Murder By High Tide (2011) and Ten Thousand Years In Hell (2017).

Imagine the beautifully crisp images of Hergé (Tintin) put in service of a series of wisecracking, fast-paced detective stories — punctuated with scenes of spectacular vehicular mayhem (including in this volume a dockside pursuit via car and bulldozer). Gil Jordan is a nattily dressed but tough-as-nails private eye, seconded by his trusty ex-burglar assistant Crackerjack and his eccentric friend Inspector Crouton (as well as the invaluable Miss Midge). Fantagraphics' firstGil Jordanbook combines two of Gil's finest yarns in one splendid hardcover. In "Murder by High Tide," Gil and his associates are hired to investigate the suspicious disappearance (death?) of an antiques dealer, while in "Leap of Faith" they get involved in trying to protect an attorney from Joe the Needle, a mysteriously escaped convict with apparent superhuman powers who has sworn vengeance

The early-1960s Gil Jordan adventure "Ten Thousand Years in Hell" marks a sharp departure from the moody, urban detective thrillers of Jordan's previous adventures: instead it turns into a rollicking, comedic South American prison escape yarn. "Boom and Bust" finds a countryside jaunt turned into an ad hoc investigation by a spectacular vehicular washout and a suspiciously noisy enclosure. Tillieux's masterful graphic novel series remind the reader why he was considered one of the top Franco-Belgian cartoonists of the time: of any time.

I am not a comics grader, but I try to be as thorough as possible when assessing books for any flaws. I don't believe in using a number grade system - to me they are mostly utilized as a method to be ambiguous about exact condition and/or individual imperfections - but I do attempt to describe anything other than minor cover shelf-scuffing/scratching in detail. If a certain flaw discussed below does not mention that it affects inside pages, then it does novels are in very good condition, both with solid spines and excellent inside pages (photo#12 example). They have a few external and mostly lesser signs of wear. Upper spine corner has light scuffing, lower spine corner has tiny dings/scuffs where it meets both covers. Front and back covers' top, bottom, and page edges have little if any shelf-wear other than a tiny scuff/ding on the front's bottom edge near its outer corner. Front cover's top and bottom outer corners possess tiny dings/scuffs. Back cover's top outer corner has a crease/ding and a small tear, bottom outer corner has a tiny ding/scuff. Front cover has some very light shelf-scratching around (photo#10 w/illumination). Back cover has a light diagonal scratch near its bottom outer corner (photo#11 w/illumination), and a tiny patch of material tearing/scuffing near its lower spine corner.
**Ten Thousand Years In Hell: Very good condition, excellent inside pages. Upper and lower spine corners have small dings where they meet the back covers that cause creases around them.Front and back covers' top, bottom, and page edges have little if any shelf-wear. Top outer corners have small dings/indents around them. Front cover's bottom outer corner possesses a tiny bend/scuff. Front cover has 2 small patches of indents near its spine edge.
