The owner of Gettysburg Relics was the proprietor of Artifact at 777 on Cemetery Hill in Gettysburg for a number of years, and we are now selling on .THE BATTLE OF GETTYSBURG, PENNSYLVANIA ~ RECOVERED ON CULP\'S HILL ~ This Civil War relic, a fired impact .52 caliber Sharps Carbine flat-base (or sprue base, and with the sprue mark visible) bullet, while not a particularly uncommon round, is less commonly seen among the countless bullets that were recovered on Culp\'s Hill. We do not have many Sharps examples in the Culp\'s Hill grouping. This one was clearly fired and has an additional gouge on the nose, from what exactly, is uncertain.This relic was recovered on private property (and with permission) on Culp\'s Hill on the Battlefield of Gettysburg.This fired bullet was recovered in the Culp\'s Hill area on private property many years ago by a Gettysburg local man and relic hunter. There is still private property on Culp\'s Hill to this day. Culp\'s Hill, although overshadowed today by the battle on the Union left on July 2nd and by Pickett\'s Charge on July 3rd, saw intense fighting, particularly on the morning of July 3rd. It could easily be argued that the fighting here was, perhaps, the key to the entire battle.A provenance letter will be included.We include as much documentation with the relics as we possess. This includes copies of tags if there are identification tags or maps, as well as a signed letter of provenance with the specific recovery information.All of the collections that we are offering for sale are guaranteed to be authentic, and are either older recoveries, found before the 1960s when it was still legal to metal detect battlefields, or were recovered on private property with permission. Land on Battlefields that is now Federally owned, or owned by the Trust, was acquired after the relics were recovered.
