Col. Rex Applegate and William Fairbairn are recognized for their contribution to the design of combatknives as well as being WW2heros.This Applegate-Fairbairn Special Commemorative Set is a Limited Edition made in 1997, and is numbered 0759 of 3000. The set includes a Gerber "Covert" Folder and a Boker "Combat" Fighter, both serial numbered 0759 and affixed to a walnut plaque. Walnut plaque is in excellent condition noting four small dimples in the wood, these do not distract with the piece still displaying nicely. Also, the serial number on the Gerber "Covert" folder (top knife) has faded, is still legible but not as bright as the Boker "Combat" knife on the bottom, see the picture. Overall still a strong collectible in great display condition and is priced accordingly -**the two knives without the plaque are how this item has been priced**
