Genuine Vintage Historic Japanese Manchurian Incident Medal - Enacted July 23, 1934, to commemorate the 1931-1934 campaign of the Japanese invasion of Manchuria, after the Mukden incident that gave Japan the pretext to launch its forces to occupy the region. Made of bronze with a diameter of approximately 30.5 mm (1.2 inches). This medal is one of the first issued as the front (obverse) and reverse are both different than medals issued at a later time. This medal has a bird and the Imperial Chrysanthemum on the front, while the back is the earlier \"helmet medal\" model and not the golden kite. The left helmet has an anchor, signifying the Navy and the right helmet has a star to signify the Army. The inscription reads \"Showa 6-9 incident\" which corresponds to 1931 - 1934. The ribbon is watered silk and is adorned on the bottom with a pin with the text \"war medal\". A \"U\" hasp is solidly attached on the back. The medal was abolished in 1946. This medal is approximately 90 Years Old. Measures approximately 3 1/4\" long x 1 1/2\" wide. Great historical item for any history buff. Excellent pre-owned condition.
