You get the exact one shown here:#11107 -S3TSUGRANDITE GARNET CRYSTALS ON MATRIX FROM MALI02-08-2023Please see VIDEO & all 18 photos (be sure to scroll to see all of them). If the video isn't available please check back a little later as there is often a delay for it to be viewable. The video is better than the photos.

This isGARNETCRYSTALS ON MATRIXfrom THE KAYES REGION OF MALI. Approximate size of overall crystal specimen:2" wideX2" deepX1 5/8" tallor in metric:5.0 X 5.0 X 4.2 CM. The garnet crystals are approximately 5/8" wide or 1.6 CM. The metric measurement is more precise.Approximate WEIGHT: 143 GRAMS or 5 OUNCES.

This is from the 2023 Tucson show and is reportedly from a new mine. This new find has much better crystals than is typically seen from Mali. The faces are very bright and with little to no damage. You can see into the crystal to some extent, especially in bright lighting. The color is good and the crystals are slightly translucent. This is a matrix specimen and those are not often offered for sale. The reason for that is simple: the artisanal miners often don't have the tools to extract the matrix and just chip the crystals off of the matrix. Single crystals are much easier to carry than heavy matrix pieces and that is the biggest factor - especially when worked in cramped cavities or when climbing up out of mines and/or clambering down mountain slopes. I've made 11 trips to mines in Namibia and saw that firsthand.

Ugrandite is the name given to this type of garnet crystal because it is a combination of uvarovite, grossular, and andradite garnet according to chemical tests. I will be listing bigger and smaller specimens and some with much brighter green color so be sure to see my other listings. I am in process of making listings over the next week or two so you may want to check back on occasion to see what all has been newly listed.

This is shown with enlarged images so please note:This is shown with large high-resolution images. The photos show the specimen as if you were examining it with a magnifying glass. Every good detail, and every bad detail, is shown in a blaze of glory or shame as the case may be.Having said that, since the photos are highly enlarged you may see features or blemishes that will not be detectable or will not be as prominent to the naked eye.

Please note the size and be advised that the images appear larger than life on your screen. To be clear: this is shown with extreme magnification. To put it another way, (as ifthat wasn't clear enough?) these are large pictures of a small crystal.

This specimen is priced commensurate with its rarity, locality and quality. I can't take less for it so please don't ask. I do have minerals for every budget so be sure to check out my other items.

B.O.L.O ALERT - Be On the Look Out:I have lots of other minerals for sale - all kinds of good stuff from all over the world. I have some currently listed and I'm in the process of listing more - check back if minerals & crystals are your thing.I've recently acquired in excess of 1200 perky box specimens which have been carefully curated over a span of 42 years. The quality ranges from high to extremely high. Despite the sensory overload that oft accompanies high quality minerals, some will be quite affordable. The easiest way to see them is to visit my store and click the store category "PERKY BOXES". You will probably want to add me as a favorite seller and tick the box to receive a weekly view of recently added minerals. I took some time off from listing but I'm back at it for a while and will probably be adding more specimens.

So do check back and add me as a favorite and subscribe to my newsletter. Don't worry, you won't get weekly oreven monthly emails from me as I only sporadically send them out a few times a year.
