DISPOSING(SLOWLY) OF A VERY LARGE, LIFELONG COLLECTION OF POCKET

KNIVES. ONLYPOSTING A COUPLE A DAY SO BOOKMARK ME FOR FUTURE REFERENCE.

NOTE - no attempt has been made to polish, clean or otherwise make this knife more attractive for photos.

A good, antique stag scaled large pocket knife with lock back and swing guard. Difficult to date, but judging from the script in the shield, the ringed and pinched bolsters and quality of the build, I am going to estimate this as late 19thor early 20thCentury.

Measures approximately 9 1/8 inches, open, 5 inches closed and with a clip blade length (edge only) of approximately 3 ½ inches. No tang stamps or other maker’s distinguishing marks. Good gnarly stag scales secured by four pins with easy open cut outs. Oval shield to obverse with initials “DM” in script. White metal pinched and ringed bolsters. White metal swing guards. Still retains light snap in closing position. Swing guards function flawlessly. Blade with staining and scratching. Lock up good with very slight lateral movement when forced. Positive spring flexibility for opening (not seized). Obverse scale appears to have a piece missing from the rear lower section – but this could be the natural shape of the stag scale. (See photo close-up). Reverse scale good. Some staining to the spring and locking bar.
