The work, on heavy watercolor paper, is matted and framed in a contemporary metal frame, with the artist\'s studio business card affixed to the back of the framing materials. Signed \"GIL REID\" in the lower left corner. It appears to be sunset, as there are bilowing clouds in deep blues and purples above a yellow band on the horizon line. A cool touch is just the outline of the engineer visible in the train. Fresh to the market! Signed lower left. Size to mat: 9 7/8 x 13 1/2 inches. Framed size 16 1/4 x 19 1/4 inches. CONDITION: Excellent, with no defects noted. BIOGRAPHY Gil Reid (1918-2007) is a well-listed Wisconsin and Missouri-based railroad artist whose illustrations can be found in Trains Magazine, as well as in Amtrak calendars. Author John Gruber wrote an excellent article about the artist, \"Artist Gil Reid,\" published in Railroad Heritage Magazine in the Spring of 2000.
