ORIGINALCHOICE CONDITION GERMAN / AUSTRIA GREAT WAR WWI LARGE TRENCH MEDIC OR TRENCH ASSAULT TROOPS CANTEEN – NICE COMPLETE CANTEEN STILL WITH INTACTLEATHER HARNESS AND CARRY STRAP (NO BREAKS) AND CORK.

Canteenbody on the neck is maker marked HECKER and dated 1915. Canteen bodyshows some denting but looks like it may hold water, I have never tried.

Leather canteen support harness is maker marked HECKER and dated 1917. The leather canteen support strap looks to be maker marked matched to the canteen maker,HECKER. Leather support straps have a beautiful russet brown leathercolor just like a really good German WWI Period Luger Holster, see pictures. Canteen Harness Cork remains together and attached.

Canteen Cover the fabric color has faded some and appears to be dated (veryfaded markings) 17 probably for 1917 and has another stamp J.R.18possibly a unit marking. All 4 Snaps on the canteen cover are original and remain useableand all cover snaps are in really good shape.

Tincup looks to be unmarked.

Leatheris Undamaged. Leather at the buckles is intact; all of theleather is very old and shows surface cracking here and there;leather is over 105 years old now, so extra careful care must of course betaken when handling and attempting un-buckling and buckling the old fragileleather should you want to, extra special care must be taken moving the leather at thebuckles. The long leather shoulder sling strap remains full length and entirely flexible.

Don\'tmiss this rare canteen, get it while you can; you will be hardpressed to find an original in better condition.
