Theattractive replica medal is the GermanImperial / Prussian Grand Cross of the Iron Cross. It was originally intended for Prussian generalsand it was the highest grade of the Iron Cross.

Alongwith the Iron Cross 1st and 2nd Class, the Grand Cross was established on March 10, 1813,during the Napoleonic Wars. It was renewed in 1870 again in 1914 forthe First World War. This is the 1870 Franco-Prussian War version of the medal.
