This is an exceptional and scarce medal from Paris and one of its many 19th century fairs.
I have begun offering an excellent selection of European world\'s fair medals, including the very first, 1851 at London\'s Crystal Palace, numerous from Paris and many other countries.
Just recently I sold two quite lovely medals from that first-ever world\'s fair at the original Crystal Palace and I have acquired two more which I need to photograph and list. I always encourage collectors to ask for details if they have interest as I often have listed a lot of one or more medals specifically tailored to colectors\' want lists.
It\'s pretty difficult to assign a \"value\" for European fair medals. I try to base the amount on similar past sales. I should think this one would be in more demand than many due to its beautiful condition and gilt finish, as well as coming from one of the 19th century\'s foremost designers/engravers.
And I\'ve priced it quite inexpensively; I would think such a medal could easily sell for $75 or more.
