Museum Quality Reproduction French Napoleonic Dragoons of the Imperial Guard Helmet.
This helmet is for an enlisted trooper in the dragoons of the imperial guard of Napoleon, circa 1812. This regiment is sometimes known as the empresses’s dragoons because empress Josephine was the regiment’s patron.
This exceedingly high-quality reproduction was made for me by an artisan in Russia in the 1990s. It is copied from an original in the collections of a Russian museum. Please do not confuse this with the poor quality reproductions being imported by international military antiques from India. This helmet has a real fur turban made to look like leopard skin, which is correct for enlisted helmets.
It has been on display for almost 30 years. Never worn. Size 58cm or 7 3/4.
