The Black Stallion, by Fred Stone

Fred Stone is well known for his paintings, but he also created a sculpture of the beloved Black Stallion, in a limited edition of 2500 pcs. With his head high and wind-blown mane and tail, the Black Stallion is prancing over the desert sands. This is #704 of the 2500 piece edition, produced in 1984. He will be packed in foam and double-boxed for safe travels to his new home.

I met Kathleen Maestas in 2003, and she has shared a lot of the model horse hobby history with me over the subsequent years. Many long-time collectors know Kathleen, as she was one of the premier artists customizing Breyer model horses in the late 1970s through the mid-1980s, selling her customized models under the Double Diamond Ranch name. I am honored that she has asked me to assist her in liquidating a few models from her vast collection.
