Amazing circa 1890 bronze sculpture featuring a scribe on a rug.This bronze piece is missing the table holding the tablet ( Koran) which would have been to the right of him on the rug.The screws are not there, nor is the table.The paint is very worn, as is the underside of the bronze.Marked in 2 places, with signature "B" in Urn shaped Cartouche in one corner, and along one of the edges underneath.The second mark is more worn than the first.Appraised value of this piece, as shown incomplete was 1,400 in 2021Measures 5" wide x 3.5" high.
