This is a rare type of artifact commonly called Lizard Effigies. I believe they are actually slug effigies.
They were probably tie on weights perhaps for atlatls, used for throwing spears.
You can actually see the fine line around the neck where this effigy was attached.
As you can see a beautiful banded slate with a gorgeous pattern of banding. Slug tail.
Unusually large or "fatboy" size.
4 3/8" long, 1 7/8" wide, 1 1/4" height
Base slightly rockered so tail and head are uplifted.
Comes with a Tom Shenk COA from 2016
