Fine Old OGONI MASK from NIGERIA articulated jaw PROVENANCE [Boston Primitive]:

This is an excellent example of a danced Ogoni mask from Nigeria, west Africa. It was obtained from LitFung Liu and a printed provenance will accompany the mask. Its patina is quite mottled, especially the remnant kaolin that gives the face an overall white color. The scarifications and derby-like hat are black and the lips and ears are very dark red. When danced the movable jaw will \"clack\". The original braided fiber hinges are intact and still working (see photos 9, 10 and 11). Its countenance is classic Ogoni, with squinty eyes, ski jump nose and puffy lips. This is a fantastic artifact I am offering. It was purchased from the Gotham Gallery, LitFung Liu, Director, in 2013. Before that it graced the colletion of Paul Mabe, South Carolina.
