Fine Napoleonic war era, 1801 dated, Spanish Army, Bilbao type cavalry sword. This is a very handsome example that is well marked to the reign of Carlos IV of Spain. Appears to have a rack number at the base of the guard. Blade also appears to have been abbreviated during its working lifetime. It was not uncommon for these swords to be carried by infantry later on which may explain the blade shortening. Former collector appears to have cleaned the sword carefully and it has started to form oxidization afterwards. Wire wrap is excellent and original. A prime example has a great pirate look about it.
