A superb and rare photo of the winning Ferrari 275P2 race car, seen in winning action during the 1965 Targa Florio.

Scuderia Ferrari entered two P2s, a new version of theprototype, featuring a new DOHC V12 engine. Strangely, Ferrari dispersed someof his effort by entering a 1.6L Dino 166. Two 365 P2s were also entered,one by NART, the other by Maranello Concessionaires. The 365 P2 was builtaround a previous year\'s P chassis with updated aerodynamics and featured a4.4L SOHC V12.

Several 275LM prototypes were entered by Ferraricustomers. Ferrari developed the mid-engined LM for homologation in the GTcategory but was refused by the CSI. These cars are often mistakenly designedas 250LMs, as the first car built was fitted with a 3.0L engine. The carsdelivered to customers were 275LM powered by a 3.3L. The performance ofthe 275LM was far from \"real\" prototypes but as the engine was aclose derivative of production Ferrari engines, the car had proved veryreliable.

Ferrariinitially was founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1929 as Scuderia Ferrari, the company sponsored drivers andmanufactured race cars before moving into production of street legal vehiclesin 1947 as Ferrari S.p.A..Ferrari\'s cars are among the most desirable of vehicles to drive. Throughoutits history, the company has been noted for its continued participation andincredibly passion in racing, especially in Formula One, where it has largelyenjoyed great success, especially during the 1950s, 1960s, 1970s, late 1990s,and 2000s. Finally, after years of financial struggles, Enzo Ferrari sold thecompany\'s sports car division to the Fiat group in 1969 in order to helpensure continued financial backing for the foreseeable future. Enzo Ferrarihimself retained control of the racing division until his death in 1988 at theage of 90.
