Up for sale on a SEVEN DAY sale with NO RSESERVE!It’s the classic Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine issue #25, thegroundbreaking FIRST installment in the three-part Famous Monsters Magazinephoto feature on the scene-by-scene story of the incomparable,original 1933 movie version of KING KONG, the Eighth Wonder of the World andthe GREATEST giant monster film ever made! (And I should mention that there’s also plenty of behind-the-scenessecrets, production details, historic photos and fascinating backstories forold and new Kong fans everywhere!)

This sale isfor the original 1963 vintage Famous Monsters of Filmland Magazine single issue#25. I will tell you up front the sadnews that the front cover of this mag. has seen better days. The cover isbeginning to split from the spine but more than half of it is still trying tohold on valiantly. The two outer front corners have been bumped over the years andfolded back with slight corner tears, but no pieces have been chipped off or completelytorn away. There’s also some staining and browning on the edges and corners of a few pages. (See photo scans for details.) The GOOD news isthat most of the magazine is in fair or at least acceptable shape. (See the photoscans closely for the good aspects, too,) but the brilliant and wonderful manknown as Forrest J. Ackerman himself, INSISTED on graciously autographing myfavorite Famous Monsters issue TWICE. Once on the first interior page of themagazine and ONCE AGAIN A SECOND TIME on Page 58 at the opening to the article“The Amazing Ackermonster.” In addition to the magazine photo scans, I have included a snapshot my wife took of thelate Mr. Ackerman rising from his chair and posing as he was shaking hands with me. (I’m the baldingguy on the right with the glasses and the beard,) aftercordially signing this very magazine. His handshake was a warm and kind gesture that I will never forget. (And yes, that is indeed the late Ray Harryhausen sitting beside Mr.Ackerman at the autograph table.) This signed issue remains safelyreadable and thoroughly enjoyable, while not too raggedy for a SIXTY PLUS year-old hand signed magazine.
