This is a low grade item. It will be complete and readable, but will show significant wear. Allowed defects for this grade include: spine roll, a moderate amount of staining or water damage, writing or other marks on the cover, up to one inch spine splits or other tears, a cover or centerfold that is detached at one staple, discoloration due to oxidation, and a minor piece or pieces missing. An item could be assigned this grade due to either an accumulation of minor/moderate defects or one or two major defects.

Description

Famous First Edition Limited Collectors' Blue Ribbon Series #F8: Flash #1 (Golden Age). Reprints Flash Comics #1 including the original ads. Origin and first appearance of Jay Garrick, the original Flash, in a story by Gardner Fox and Harry Lampert. Origin and first appearance of the Hawkman by Gardner Fox, origin and first appearance of Johnny Thunderbolt by John Wentworth and Stan Aschmeier. Also features the first appearance of "Cliff" Cornwall, Special Agent, by Sheldon Moldoff, and the Whip, by Wentworth and George Storm. A two-page text story, "Warfare in Space," by Gardner Fox is also included, as well as a one page text piece about the history of stamps, and a strip by Ed Wheelan called "The Demon Dummy," about a murderous ventriloquist dummy. 80 pgs. NOTE: This almost exact replica edition is 10 x 13-1/2" (about the size of a Life magazine). The original, 1940 first edition is standard comic book size. Cover price $1.00.
