LITTLE BACK HISTORY on Earl - The true life of the likable lovable Earl David BIrcham, Weakley County's notorious gangster of the 1940s. After being convicted of robbing, the people's bank of Dresden in 1939, Birchman was sentenced to 20 years in a Tennessee State Prison. Upon escaping the penitentiary he lived his life on the run.. Bertram known as the FBI's Public Enemy. #1, wanted in Tennessee, Kentucky, Kansas and Ohio for robbery burglary and countless episodes of prison escapes during the 1940s.

Bertram's life of crime came to an abrupt end in 1949 after killing a police officer in a running gun battle in Louisville KY. He would later die in the electric chair in 1952.
