Extremely Rare Sharply Serrated 2 5/8" Fossil AURICULATUS/SOKOLOWI Tooth- PERU:

Species - Carcharocles sokolowi (late stage auriculatus)

Size - 2 5/8"

Location - Ica, Peru

Age - Late Eocene - Appx 40 million years old

Remarks - Beyond rarely offered sharply serrated 2 5/8" long fossil sokolowi tooth found in the deserts of Peru. You almost NEVER find one of these complete and unrepaired and this is no exception although it's a good looking example for sure with only minimal work done. Basically some cracks in the root were filled in with putty (not much) and that's it - it's probably 98% real which makes it one of the most complete I've ever had from here. These have always been pretty much the most difficult species to obtain from Peru as they were only found in one very small area. The coolest thing is these are almost absolutely IDENTICAL to the teeth that are found halfway across the world in Kazakhstan. You won't see these for sale anymore so get one if you can. Old collection piece legally exported over 30 years ago. 100% authentic. Winning buyer to receive full geological data on all teeth.

99% of the teeth we sell are new to the market and have not been bought from other dealers or shopped around at shows. We acquire the teeth either by buying direct from divers who sell exclusively to our company or by diving ourselves (but we don't use that as a marketing gimmick.....does it really matter whether I found a particular tooth or someone else did if you like it and the price is fair?). So what you are seeing here has not been offered before and you will be either the 2nd or 3rd owner of a very cool and collectible piece of history.
