EXTREMELY RARENANTGARWCW WELSHHAND PAINTEDDUKE OF CAMBRIDGESERVICE PLATE

Commissionedby the Prince Regent as a wedding gift for his younger brother Adolphus, Duke of Cambridge on the occasion of his marriage in 1818 to Princess Augusta of Hesse-Cassel.
Plate decorated with a central spray of flowers surrounded by eight vignettes on a red background depicting the original order of specification of four castle landscapes, two with fruit & two with a pair of birds in the eight vignettes
Gilt scrollwork on the edge of the plate & on the dentil rim
Decoration is attributed to Thomas Randall
24cm in diameter
Excellent condition for age as over 200 years old.
Selling "as is" free from any visible chips, cracks or restoration & was purchased as such at sale.
Slight wear to gilding, wear to the front of the plate & rough discolouration areas on the rear commensurate with age.
