Extremely RARE Authentic Anthracite Coal Porcelain Sign/Penn Coal Co NO RESERVE:

For sale is this incredibly RARE metal sign that appears to be porcelain on the outside surface. I got this at a yard sale a few years ago that was selling local Anthracite Coal Mine items.

It is weathered for sure, but is a survivor and a gem. The owner didn\'t have any information on it, but my takeaways from it are that it was weathered, someone did a home-made restoration attempt on it. If you look at all of the photos, you can see that due to the rust, they used paint to fill in some of the letters or made letters completely themselves (also the white border lines they did this). It looks like it was clear coated also, probably to deter further rusting. The \"S\" in \"Safety\" appears to be totally redone because the size of the letter does not match up with the others. The sign measures 14 inches wide by 10 inches high. I used a soda can for scale in the photos also.

With all of the condition issues said, this is a RARE piece! Extremely rare! You won\'t find another one, good luck trying. I\'ve found photos online of this Breaker and this sign was at the Ewen Colliery in Pittston (I believe from a WW2 War Bonds Drive). It might have been (the photo) from the Associated Press, but I remember seeing an image with this very same styled sign in it. That makes sense because the Ewen Colliery in Pittston was owned by the Pennsylvania Coal Company! The \"S\" in \"Safety\" in that photo was in alignment with the rest of the text too, that\'s why I mentioned this earlier in the description.
