Extensive archive of press cuttings, articles and a few handwritten notes about military and civilian test pilots. These were all contained in a folder marked \'Test Flying\'.Around 200 pages and lots of smaller cuttings, such as obituaries and biographies. Some are photocopies of articles and some are original articles cut from magazines, many have the dates of publication typed on them. The photos show just a small selection.
Includes a 5 page typed list of errors to the book Test Pilots by Don Middleton, I don\'t know if this collection originally belonged to him.Test pilot names include- Cat\'s Eyes Cunningham, Eric Winkle Brown, Neville Duke, John Derry who died at Farnborough airshow, Brian Trubshaw (Concorde) plus many more.
Cuttings are from The Aeroplane, Air Pictorial, Air International, Flight, Wingspan, FlyPast, RAF News Etc.
Most articles date from the late 1940s through to 2000 but generally relate to the test pilots of 2nd word war aircraft, through to the early jet liners such as the Comet. Lots of photos of prototypes and crash landings.
