Selling anExtremely Rare Fred Harvey Santa Fe RR Dining Service Set (Dinner Plate + 5 pc flatware) for 4. Consists of 4 Santa Fe Railroad dining car Fred Harvey 3-section dinner plates plus 20 pieces of Santa Fe dining car silverplate flatware. All pieces have been in our possession for over 45 years, having been obtained from the estate of a long time Santa Fe railroad employee. Only rarely do these pieces ever appear for sale, and never in such a complete package such as this. Occasionally a single Fred Harvey plate may appear at sale or a few pieces of Santa Fe silverplate will be offered on , but those buying opportunities are few and far between. So this is a unique buying opportunity for that special fan of railroad history.
The ultra-rare Fred Harvey 3-section divided dinner plates are all in exceptionally fine condition and show just the bearest trace of wear, and that only on the bottom where they would have rested on a table or shelf.. These seldom seen plates measure 10.5 inches in diameter and weigh close to 3 lbs each. Their \"Southwest\" pattern/design includes a black and rust border with the \"FH\" logo incorporated on the rim. Except for the design details the plate is a uniform white color with a full dose of luster to the finish. The backstamp is from Albert Pick Co Inc. Chicago Illinois, and the plate was made by McNicol China. According to Barbara Conroy\'s Restaurant China Guide these plates were made for and used at Santa Fe Railroad station Harvey Houses and in Santa Fe Railroad dining cars.Each plate comes with 5 pieces of silverplate flatware, a dinner knife, a dinner fork, a teaspoon, a larger serving/soup spoon, and an iced tea spoon. All are stamped Santa Fe, and all except the knives are also marked International Silver Co. The flatware pieces are all used but in very good condition (no dents or damage, just the usual small surface marks and signs of use you would expect from daily use in a dining car). Note that the some of the silverplate pictures may have a slight golden tinge because of the camera and/or lighting so please take that into consideration when viewing.
