CC&GTCC:Casino Chip & Gaming Tokens Collectors Club is an educational organization with the mission of preserving gaming history. Every year there is a convention in fabulous Las Vegas where collectors, dealers and people who just admire gaming memorabilia come together to share information and add a few pieces to their collection. The group started organizing in 1988. The Silver Strikers Chapter joined the group in 1999. The name of the group has changed to Casino Collectibles Association (CCA).
\"Red Caps\",\"Blue Caps\", \"Pink Caps\" are considered \"chaser strikes\" and often times a limited edition. The casino would put only a few of these colored capsuled Silver Strikes in the machine at one time and a person would have to play and play it until this limited edition \"Colored Capsule\" token could be won.
El Cortez Casino History:Located at 600 East Fremont Street in Las Vegas, NV, The El Cortez has been in operation since November 7, 1941 and is one of the oldest casino-hotel properties in Las Vegas. The theme is Spanish Colonial Revival. In 1945, the notorious Bugsy Siegel, Meyer Lansky, Gus Greenbaum and Moe Sedway bought the property. In 1946, they sold it back to one of the original owners J. Kell Houssels. In 1963, Jackie Gaughan purchased the property. Gaughan lived in the El Cortez\'s tower penthouse and was known to be on the casino floor daily. In 2008, Gaughan sold the property to Kenny Epstein, a longtime friend and business partner.

People from all over the world collect, buy, sell and trade these unique gaming tokens. The first Silver Strikes were won from special slot machines in the Reno/Tahoe area of Nevada in 1992. The tokens have been issued with redeemable values of $2, $3, $7, $10, $20, $28, $40, $200 and $300. The most common denomination is $10. Older Silver Strikes have a higher silver content.
