c. 1910s-1920s; Lester & Toner\'s Inc. - Greenport, Long Island, NYCircular cardstock clock-face advertisement for Seapure brand oysters. This sign was produced in the middle of an oyster boom in the late 19th and early 20th centuries. A once plentiful food, they became delicacies during the Roaring \'20s as their availability greatly declined until the 1980s and 1990s when coastal farms and modern practices allowed their numbers to once again grow significantly.This piece features a green clock-style face with the 12 months of the year in place of numbers and the hands pointing to September and April as the months between them, or the \"R\" Months, were traditionally the only months one could enjoy oysters as summer month oysters were considered off-limits.
