Up for sale is anEarly 1900s Boy Scout Be Prepared Uniform Button with a Metal Shank and is impressed on the back: S. Eisner Red Bank N.J. It is attached to a small 1/2\" diameter split keyring. Impressed but not clear, on the back steel backing of the button is: S. Eisner Co. NJ.\" The front of the embossed button is a fleur de lis & eagle symbol with the Scout motto BE PREPARED. \"PAT\" is embossed underneath that. It is 5/8\" in diameter. The embossing is highlighted with gold paint. The front of the button is crimped to the back steel backing. I found this button recently in the drawer of a Singer treadle sewing machine.\"The BSA used metal shank buttons on their uniforms as a means of fastening the uniform together. The buttons were typically placed on the front of the uniform and were used to attach the shirt to the pants. They were also used to attach the neckerchief to the uniform. Some of these buttons date back to the early 1900s, when the organization was first founded. They were used on the Boy Scout uniforms from 1910 until 1949.

Hello buyer and watchers, I\'m going to close down this listing and then relist it. I unscrewed the end hardward out of the handled of the one handle where the hardware looked like it was missing a piece. When I got it unscrewed, I could see that other side of the yoke or fork was broken off. So, unless a new fork is welded on, this handle will not be functional. sorry folks for not exploring this better before I llisted it.Paul
