INTROI don’t claim to be any sort of expert (by any means), but I’ve been specializing in collecting, buying & selling Native American things since the 1970’s, so I do know a bit about the different subjects! I mostly have been collecting Artifacts, Northwest Coast objects, Baskets & some Beadwork here & there. And on top of that I have quite a bit of all positive response selling on & always take things back if a buyer is not satisfied in any sort of way (which is a very rare occurrence)!I’m a retired graphic artist by profession, have lived all over the United States, have walked many fields Artifact hunting gone to many shows, sales & studied the subjects I specialize in allot! From the 1980’s onwards! I was the Minnesota Chapter Editor of the Central States Archaeological Journal, and from 2000 onwards & I also illustrated & designed a children’s coloring book on Northwest Coast Art, which was published & sold all over The United States in 1992 onwards in most of the National Parks & Book Stores in the US!DESCRIPTION OF WHAT I”M SELLING*NOTE first off… The person I bought this from many years ago stated that this bag came from a Indian sale at the Noble Hotel in Lander Wyoming back in the 50’s, which supposedly was from a Chief Washakie ownership! Now I don’t know the truthfulness or veracity of this claim, but it sounds feasible! From my 50+ limited years of collecting Native American items & beadwork. It looks to be of Shoshone design & workmanship and if I had to put a date on it I’d estimate probably 1910’s-30’s!
It’s a nice little bag, in generally very good condition & displays nicely! The sizes & shapes are 8” tall (for the bag itself) by 6 ” wide, 3.5” for the hanging part. On Brain tanned deer hide! With white & dark blue beads seed beads on the cover flap & lighter blue, red & four strips of green seed beads running across the top & bottom of the central diamond. The edge’s are wrapped in a red felt sort of material! All the beadwork is in great shape & not missing any beads. The four rows of green beads a are very subtle & kind cool! The base hide is in good shape except for some minor stains & a hole on the back part!A nice authentic wall-hanger (with some age, in good shape) for any Native American Beadwork collection, from a tribe that doesn’t come up very often!
