1940\'s / 1950\'s STEINBACH BOY WOOD CARVING / FIGURINE
Adorable boy playing a mandolin or lute and with a backpack hiking past a sign post (sign missing) with a bird on top and with mushrooms at his feet. There is a pine tree in front of him. Crafted by Steinbach in the Erzgebirge region of East Germany. Boy figure style makes me think it was made by Wendt Kuhn of Germany. Hand carved and hand painted. Stamp on the bottom is the early Steinbach label featuring a chimney sweeper and labeled Steinbeck Geschwister Hohoenhameln GMBH.
SOLD AS IS: Some chipped paint / loss, some chipping to edges of tree branches and missing the sign that was on the top of the post. The sign would have pointed to a German town (they made this piece featuring multiple different cities, so likely a tourist souvenir ).
APPROX. 3 3/8\"H x 2 3/4\"W x 1 1/4\" Deep.
