E&JB stands for E&J Bass of New York, which operated from 1890-1930. They were manufacturers of silver and silver plated items.Since the shakers are stamped with E&JB, we know that they were manufactured in the U.S. Sterling silver is .925 silver with a .075 additive. Sterling made in the U.S. after the 1850\'s required sterling stamps/marks (e.g., sterling, .925 or show the fraction 925/1000). If there are no marks of this sort on the shakers, they are not sterling silver. Since E&JB manufactured silver and silver plated items, it\'s safe to assume that the shakers are not pewter.
