The 5/8 inch DOVO 3 straight razor is nicknamed "Bergischer Löwe" and belongs to the best of the best. With its Spanish point, the finely worked blade is elegantly gold-plated and paired with a handsomely crafted handle. As a tribute to our home region and its history, the lion adorns each of the hand-made straight razors as a heraldic animal. For maximum grip, the underside of the tang is ribbed.

A truly distinctive full hollow ground straight razor, this gorgeous 5/8 Bergischer Lowe can be considered nothing short of a piece of artistry; it practically speaks for itself! The 5/8" blade, which doubles as a canvas for both a reverse gold etching and gold plating along the spine, is secured in a handle fashioned from genuine African Cow horn. The natural patterns of the horn ensure a one-of-a-kind finish, hand-polished to perfection by a member of the legendary Dovo family of craftsmen. This is a natural material which varies in the tone of the color. An excellent addition to any collection, or a wonderful gift for that special someone! This straight razor is a true masterpiece!

The Spanish point is an elaborately designed shape for razor points. Its unique shape comes from its concave form with a slightly rounded tip. This rounding also facilitates the shaving of complicated areas around the ears, nose, and dimples. Such a design offers you high precision without having to sacrifice security and control.

Your shaving begins with stropping on a leather strop. After you have generously coated your face with shaving lather or shaving oil, grab the blade so that the open handle points away from you. With your free hand, gently hold your skin to form as straight a surface as possible. You set the blade at about 30° angle and smoothly pull it down over your face. First, start going with the hair, and then finish by going against the growth direction.

Most straight razors are made of carbon steel. To avoid stains, rinse your blade with warm water after shaving. Next, dab it dry with a cloth without touching the cutting edge and stow it open to dry completely. Between two applications there should be at least 48 hours so that the burr can realign itself. If you are not going to use your razor for a longer period of time, apply a bit of acid-free oil to it.
