This vintage and very unique "Disneyana" wooden carving features Goofy, the beloved Disney character based on his earlier cartoon life.
This wooden carving from the mid-20th century (1941-1969) is a must-have for any Disney fan.It appears to have been carved from a single piece of wood.
I am only aware of two others in existence (there may be others, but I can't find any on-line) - one was in very poor shape, missing parts and sold elsewhere and the other, in similar shape to this one, is in a private collection in Saskatchewan, Canada and is not currently for sale.
This Goofy carving is in excellent shape - the paint seems to be original and in still in great condition, and there are no missing parts nor does any part appear to be glued or replaced in any way. You will note that the guitar strings were carefully carved, as well as the creases in Goofy's nose, and his shoes. This item is almost as if it came out of the artists workshop.
I have tried to find out who carved this item and have not been able to pinpoint the artist responsible - maybe you will have better luck.
