Here we have Dell Four Color #386, \"Only a Poor Old Man\", which is the first issue of the Uncle Scrooge comic series from 1952.Wonderful 32 page story with art by Carl Barks. Also three one page comic strips. That\'s 35 pages of Barks art plus the front cover. There are no ads.This comic presents itself as a solid and attractive, very good condition.It has good strong color and no brittleness. Pages are supple. No pages or panels are missing.Here are the defects:Front cover has numerous thin & old creases, and numbers written on the top center and bottom left.Small stress tears near staples but staples are firmly attached.The spines are usually gutted and incomplete on these Golden Age Disney books.This spine is well worn but complete and it looks very good.Writing and a month stamp on the top border of page 1.Half inch tear on the bottom border of page 5.Three-eigth inch closed tear, with a tiny less than one eigth inch piece missing on the bottom of page 11.Stain on bottom border of page 17.Closed half inch tear top side border page 18.Three inch closed tear through border and bottom left panel of page 19.(This is the largest tear but it is closed and no pieces are missing). See photos.There are some numbers written on the top border of the back cover
This book is an ideal cadidate for professional repair as all the defects are easily repaired.This is also a PERECT reading copy since there are no brittle pages and the spine is complete.
