The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars is a classic David Bowie and a classic example of his one-of-a-kind genre only he could pull off. As a journalist, I have written of David Bowie in the past by saying that he is/was to contemporarymodern/pop music as Andy Warhol is/was to contemporary modern art. His genetically malformed eyes were not the only genetically engineered differences to the norm that made David Bowie the great non-conformist he was.

As with too many stand-out greats, he left early and without leaving quite enough, but he did leave a lot. So, how good was his art ?

Many would say it was weird, worthless, not worth noting historically, blah, blah, blah. Many say the same about Warhol's soup cans and Marilyn's. So what ! The United States Library of Congress feels differently. They have inducted this album: The Rise and Fall of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders From Mars into its archives of perpetual history with the following quotation as the Gold record award reads on the discography plate: "Perpetually preserved, being deemed culturally, historically, or artistically significant." That seems to make it pretty significant.

Both are in listing photos. The "Crazy Eyes" 8 X 10 matches the eys on the gold cassette on the award. The "Crazy Pants" is just one more of Bowies iconic poses.
