Volunteer work started in Cuba in 1959,driven by Che Guevara, in each weekend, tens of thousands of workers instead of resting were summoned to perform free tasks (without gain money) in construction, agriculture and any other task that was called by the revolutionary organizations, This generated enormous expenses of transport, food, and other expenses that were not compensated by the bad planning of the tasks to be carried out and the little result obtained by the inexperience in those tasks and the lack of enthusiasm in realizing them by the workers. The worker who refused to volunteer work suffered different types of reprisals and was identified as a counterrevolutionary. At the end of the volunteer work, each worker was given a bonus or paper copy of the hours worked, there was the national volunteer work called "Red Sunday" which was celebrated every November 6 in greetings to the October Revolution of 1917 in Russia and delivered a bond with the same design nationwide. There are thousands of bonds with different designs, as each union and work center printed their own bonds to be delivered at the end of the voluntary work of their workers. In 2011 voluntary work ceases, to recognize by the the government's for it ineffectiveness
