You are offerding on anoutstanding \"Gold and Enamel French D-Day Commemorative Medal\'.This front pf this 1 ¾” art medal has green enamel paratroopers descendingagainst a black enamel sky. The parachutes, planes and outlines of theparatroopers have high points in polished gold giving a 3 D effect. On the topthere is writing in French that appears to be about the Liberation on June 6th.Please note the dealer I purchased this from had encased the medal in acardboard and plastic holder and I decided not to remove the medal to keep itin pristine shape and easy storage. There is also a small paratrooper figure onthe very bottom of the front also in highlighted gold. The reverse of this medalhas a stylized cross of Lorraine superimposed on a map of Normady. On thebottom is \"NORMANDIE D-DAY” along with the names of the 5 invasion beacheson the top. The entire back has polished gold highlights. I purchased this coinin 2000 and the dealer did not know much about its\' maker but it is anextremely well struck and finished art medallion commemorating the greatestinvasion in history, Hard to believe that the 80 Anniversary is next month.
