Collectible Vintage Gorham Bronze Elephant/Handrest (?):

A nice bronze of a seated elephant, its hide with finely detailed wrinkles, trunk outstretched, having a dark brown patina. This is by Gorham Co. (the older company). 3 1/4\" tall x 4 1/4\" long x 2\" wide, 15.1 oz. (430 grams). Solid cast bronze, marked on bottom with a rectangle mark G/ bull mark/ C and below: GORHAM CO. This bronze elephant has a black leather pad on the back 2 1/2\" long. I do not know what it is for, not a pin cushion, perhaps a hand rest. Early 20th C.
