Here you have aBetween the World Wars Civilian Military Training Camps Certificate. Issued for completion of the CMTC Infantry Red Course to Newell F Kelly on the eve of World War II. Signed by Colonel Wilson B Burtt, 5th Infantry, Fort McKinley, Maine. Newell was approved to advance to the Infantry White Training Program. It is 84 years old and isin about fair condition.

Background: CMTC was formed shortly after World War I with the intention of never being caught unprepared, manpower wise, again. This program provided rudimentary military training so that in a National Emergency civilian men had a leg up when volunteering or called up to service. Band of Brother\'s Wild Bill Guarnere was a graduate of CMTC and this gave him a leg up at Tocca to earn NCO stripes early on in the formation of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment. Of course Guarnere had natural leadership and aggressive combat skills to go with the background already under his belt. He was my favorite character.
